30 St Mary Axe

The Swiss Re Headquarters was constructed by Skanska UK in 2000-2003

Standing at 180 metres high, the spectacular and very unusual form of the building made the project well-known, not only in the UK, but also throughout the rest of the world.

Awarded the 2005 RIBA Sterling Prize for architecture, the glass cladded building, nicked named the Gherkin for its tall, rounded, pickle liked shape, will be featured on promotional material for the 2012 Olympic games held in London.

The main product used on this building was the Safety Net Fans. The construction site was situated in the centre of London, and the occurrence of falling objects could have been disastrous.
